Rice and raisins combine with milk, sugar and cinnamon to make a lush, comforting breakfast cereal served warm or cold.
- In large pot combine all ingredients; bring to a boil, stirring. Reduce heat to low, cover and cook 18-20 minutes or until all liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender.
- In a saucepan combine milk, sugar and cinnamon sticks and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes. Remove cinnamon sticks and add to cooked rice. Continue cooking rice and milk mixture, stirring often, another 5 minutes or until mixture is creamy and thickened.
- *Optional: Additional flavoring may be added such as citrus rind, ground spices (nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, etc.) and brown sugar or honey. Serve hot with additional milk or cream and fresh fruit if desired.
